When it comes to skincare, there are a few things that you should avoid in order to have healthy looking skin. You hear a lot about what to do and how to get healthy looking skin but there are several things that you can do that has a negative effect. This is why knowing what to avoid is just as important as knowing what to do.

Many skincare products contain chemicals that are bad for you. These can do more harm than good and should be avoided to prevent doing damage to your skin.

Some of these chemicals and why they are used in beauty products are listed below:

• Parabens – These are a group of preservatives that include propyl, methyl, butyl and ethyl. They’re used in many products because they are cheap and easy to find but they are also bad for your skin.
• Dioxane – This is a synthetic substance that studies have shown to be toxic and when absorbed into the skin it can cause certain types of cancer.
• Mineral Oil – Skincare products that contain mineral oil can clog the pores preventing the skin from being able to breathe resulting in acne. It can also cause premature aging and dry skin.
• Alcohols – Any beauty product that contains alcohols can dry out and irritate your skin. They have the potential of leaving the skin susceptible to viruses and bacteria leading to skin diseases as well.
• Fragrances – Many people tend to choose beauty products for the fragrance they produce but this is not always a good idea. The chemicals used to create the fragrance can be absorbed into the skin and cause problems.
Avoiding beauty products with these ingredients in them will help to keep your skin healthy but there are other things that you should also be aware of that can cause wrinkled skin and premature aging.

For example, smoking is bad for the skin and has been proven to cause premature aging. What you eat can have a major effect on your skin. Some foods help to give your skin a warm healthy glow while others make it dry, oily or cause other problems.

Too much exposure to the sun will do considerable amounts of damage to your skin. This is why you should always wear sunscreen when you go out even if it’s cloudy. Your environment has a huge effect on your skin as well. Certain work and home environments can dry out your skin and make it look rough, tight and flaky.

Good skincare habits are important for many reasons. When you take care of your skin you’ll feel better, look better and be happier with yourself. Now that you know avoiding things that are bad for your skin is just as important as following a good skincare regiment, you can do more to protect your skin and keep it healthy.
