Why do we have to clear the same thing over and over again? Can't we ever get clear of our baggage? Why do the same people show up in our lives with different faces, running the same old game? The issues underlying our dysfunctional programs are layered like an onion. We peel back one layer only to find a juicier one underneath. The bigger and juicier it is, the more often we may stop to wipe our eyes and regain our determination. While it may seem tiresome and sometimes daunting, each layer brings us closer to the center.People come for healing for a wide range of issues. Sometimes it's to get out of a bad situation, heal a broken heart or mend a worn and broken body. Often it's a symptom of a repetitive pattern, variations of which have been playing out for decades. Many times, in the pain of the moment, there is only the desire for immediate relief. And why not; why would we not choose to be out of suffering? The only catch is that the immediate story is simply a manifestation of the inner beliefs and programs. It's almost never the cause. Focusing on the story distracts us from the real issues lying beneath the surface. At the confluence of the Soul's and the body's karmic inheritances, along with the present lifetime's history, lies a storehouse of beliefs, programs and subconscious guilt. All this is the basis of the personality, which set up what are known as attractor fields or patterns. Attractor fields are what guide flocks of birds and fish in their synchronistic dance. They are also the magnets which draw to us the opportunities for our life's experiences. Often there is a tremendous charge around the past, wrapped up in memories of some trauma or abuse. The pattern may go back multiple generations, passed down from one to the next. The ego feeds on the energy of the self-depreciative emotions, generating more and more thought forms to fan the flames. The thought forms in turn spawn elementals, autonomous living consciousnesses which keep the pattern alive. This consciousness is like a homing beacon attracting more of the same. Like a mouse in a maze we become trapped, running down the same old corridors again and again. The question is: how to break this cycle of pain and suffering, to peel back the layers of the past?In order to interrupt the cycle it's very helpful to discharge the energy which holds these programs and patterns in place. A lot of research has gone into the study of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, which came into society's focus as a result of the Vietnam Conflict. The work which is coming to the forefront of modern psychological practice involves discharging the energy lodged in the body-mind. The latest involves accessing these reservoirs of energy through the visual centers, at the direction of specially trained therapists and then facilitating the release. There are practitioners using various body mind protocols which seem to have the same effect. In principal, it is simply enough to acknowledge the energy, and through intent and prayer, ask that it be released though to its source. It is fascinating to observe the thread, which may snake back though multiple generations, discharge and dissolve itself. It is not necessary to know the details of the past, only the principals involved. If there are past lives for the client involved it is enough to release the unconscious guilt involved with the past actions. A simple regret, deeply embodied, and forgiveness of those aspects of the soul involved, is often all that is needed to shift a whole pattern which may have been carried for multiple lifetimes.Once the charge is diminished on our emotional baggage, we can begin to call back the pieces of the persona which fragmented off as a result of the dissociation which occurs during trauma and abuse. The shamanic soul retrieval is the classic example of this and yet for many with a history of abuse either continuous or multiple single episodes, it is more like a fracturing and there are a myriad of pieces to call back from every direction of the far reaches of our field. When dealing with archetypes and sub-personalities, one may be surprised to discover that each can have its own energy field complete with chakras and karmic anlage from which they arose. Each aspect may have a different karmic source, level of consciousness and its own evolutionary destiny. It can be as if one were dealing with a multiple personality, the difference of course being that the multiple personality is usually taken over by the individual persona. The wish is that as we clear a layer, we are done forever and the tendency is to dismiss any notion that we are not done with our stuff. It is that level of denial which can blindside us. It is spiritual to forgive those who trespass their abuses. Unfortunately not all aspects of the personality and body let go that easily, and the oversight can lead to unforeseen consequences. If we deny the expression of their pain, we are diminishing them, allowing their wounds to unconsciously fester. It is what underlies major illnesses and disruptive patterns. Each time we face an issue, we are releasing yet another aspect of the problem. The onion metaphor, of course, applies both to the physical and spiritual aspects of life. As we peel the emotional baggage we come closer to a sense of freedom. We are less at the whim and mercy of each program and attractor pattern. We are able to see the beauty within all of life and experience the love which is the essence of Divinity. Then we begin to discover a veritable treasure trove for which to be grateful. |

When we look at a certain object, such as a painting... we aren't able to appreciate the forms in it; what was painted and what also makes the painting great, if it is just inches away from our face. However, if we try to back up from the painting so we can take in more of it, we get a clearer vision of the art work and the whole story it is trying to portray to us. Viewed: 15 Times.
