If you're an arist, you probably have a need for a good easel to have around when one is needed. But if you're not sure as to your specific needs, finding the right one may be hard.
The first decision you need to make is what you are going to use your easel for. Where you will be using it and what type of work you will be doing will be major deciding factors. There are many different types of easels designed for different uses. To make sure that you're pleased with your new tool, it is imperitive that you choose the right one for your needs.
If you are looking for artist easels, you need to know if you are planning on moving yours around a lot or not. If you aren't, there are many easels that can be left up all the time, or that can be folded like a tri-pod and leaned in a closet or the corner.
Inversely, if you need an easel that you can take anywhere that your inspiration takes you, you should look into one that is easily portable and lightweight. There are numerous easels that are made just for this purpose. Oftentimes, they have legs that can be adjusted to the exact position that you need. An art easel like this will usually have some kind of box on it so that you can carry your art supplies with you effortlessly. If you are interested in easels like this, make sure that the one you choose has some kind of handle or strap to carry it with.
Another thing that you should think about when trying to make your choice is whether you need an easel that sits on a table or a floor model. You will have to take into consideration how much work space you have available and also how you are able to work most comfortably. You can stand or sit at either type of easel, but finding the right sized chair can be difficult, especially for floor-standing easels.
Floor model easels are normally the best choice if you're going to be working with many different types of paper and canvases. This is because they can be adjusted to keep big or smaller size canvas secured. A tabletop easel could be the better option if you do not have much space to work with. There is an added benefit to this because all of your supplies can be sitting on the table next to you so that they are close by when you need them.
If you are going to be rather rough as you work, look for an easel that is extra sturdy.Any easel you get should stand up to being used regularly, but if you get exuberant you may need a little extra stability. One more thing you should check before buying is how well the easel will pin your work down.
No matter what kind of art easel you need, you can find it. With all the different types of easels available it shouldn't be hard to find. |
