Boxing Day can often find you at a loss with what to wear. The dilemma is that it hasn’t got the same sense of occasion as Christmas Day, which is definitely the day for getting the glamourous frock out (even if you are cooking the lunch) but again it is not just another regular day. So it is nice to make a bit of an effort but not to go too far overboard on the glamour unless you are attending a posh luncheon.
In fact what to wear on Boxing Day is much like what to wear on any other day, it depends what you have planned and the practicalities of the occasion. So unless you are off to a Boxing Day Meet, or going on a long hike to walk of some of those Christmas calories you probably won’t have to dress down too much.
Boxing Day is often the time to go visiting family members – Christmas is a time of seeing family and catching up with old friends so with this is mind here are a few tips on what to wear to feel specials and relaxed as well.
Perhaps one of the most ideal Boxing Day outfits would be a pair of velour or velvet trousers. They are warm, comfortable and almost always in a dark neutral colour such as navy or black which means they will match well with whatever style or colour top you choose to wear with them.
By choosing a pair of neutral trousers you can take advantage if the array of beautiful devore and embroidered tops that are available this year. They are glamorous and available in a range of different styles ensuring that whatever your shape there will be something that will suit you.
But what if you are feeling a little less frivolous? Again the velvet trousers are a great starting point but why not team them up with a jumper and scarf combination to give them a more casual feel. This allows you to retain s touch of seasonal glamour but ensures that you don’t feel too dressed up.
You want to look good at this time of year, so it is also interesting to use accessories well to complement your outfit. Look for earrings, necklaces and bangles in contrasting colours to accentuate the colour of your eyes or the pattern on your top.
Also why not try wearing a scarf? It brings colour to any outfit and also keeps you warm. And if you are travelling don’t forget that there are some fabulous fabrics in the shops such as ‘bubble’ fabric which keeps its shape when travelling and needs no ironing when you reach your destination
Whatever you are doing on Boxing Day, make sure you have a fabulous time and feel fabulous in an outfit that is comfortable as well as stunning. After all it is your holiday as much as anyone’s so don’t forget to have fun! |
