The best way that you can fix this is to add a layer of tape to the clamp. You can do this to the teeth as well, but in that case it will need to be something a bit thicker, such as a piece of foam. Also, sometimes you'll find that you need to set two pieces of wood up on end, but you cannot seem to make them stay that way. So what you can do is to make your own little 'clamps', which are really more like placeholders. Essentially you are making a tongue and groove joint, where the stand you make is the tongue, and the board is the groove. You can build these out of just about any type of wood you want, and they will make an immense difference in your woodworking.
